Eli’s Cheesecake Named Winner of the Concordia University Chicago President’s Corporate Neighbor Award



Concordia University Chicago is pleased to announce that The Eli’s Cheesecake Company will receive the President’s Corporate Neighbor Award through the University’s 2012 Community Awards for Excellence in Learning and Leadership program, which also will honor Federico d’Escoto and Rick Tanksley of Oak Park..

Established in 2003, the Community Awards for Excellence recognize extraordinary contributions by individuals and organizations in Chicago’s suburbs to community leadership, education and humanitarianism.

The Eli’s Cheesecake Company is recipient of the President’s Corporate Neighbor Award for its exceptional community leadership and outreach, most notably its educational and community partnerships. Founded by Eli Schulman, the organization now produces more than 20,000 cheesecakes daily. Currently, Marc S. Schulman is president of the company, which has been a Chicago staple for decades.

Eli’s is committed to supporting the Chicago Public Schools, with Marc Schulman as a long time supporter of the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences (CHSAS) and is co-chair of its Business Advisory Board. This past summer, Wright College and Eli’s jointly sponsored a Summer Sustainable Agriculture Program for students of CHSAS.

 Eli’s and Wright College maintain educational and community partnerships that includes a series of classes for Eli’s associates in areas including food safety and business writing. The organizations also jointing sponsor a weekly farmer’s market during the summer.

Congratulations to Dr. Charles Guengerich on the Dedication of the Honorary Charles P. Guengerich Way at Wright College

Time Out Chicago Hosts its own “Tournament of Champions” for “Windy City Madness”–Elis Cheesecake Honored to be in the “Final Four” for Chicago’s “Most Iconic Food”




It was quite an honor to be in the “Final Four” for the “Most Iconic” Chicago Foods in the Windy City Madness Edition of Time Out Chicago. As Eli’s Cheesecake is the “perfect dessert” to go with a meal of all or either—Italian Beef, Chicago Style Hot Dog or Deep Dish Pizza, we feel honored to be paired with these other local treasures.

Eli’s Marc Schulman Receives Distinguished Entrepreneur Award from the Small Business Opportunity Center at Northwestern University Law School

or five years, the Northwestern Law Small Business Opportunity Center at the Bluhm Legal Clinic has hosted a Saturday Conference that is open to entrepreneurs and other interested people as well as the Northwestern Law Community. Eli’s Cheesecake provided Dessert for the luncheon held in Lincoln Hall at which Eli’s Marc Schulman delivered the keynote address.

Attending the Conference was Caroline Shoenberger, former Commissioner of Consumer Services for the City of Chicago and now a Professor at Harold Washington College, and John Chikow, the CEO of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association. Northwestern Chicago Campus

Northwestern’s  Chicago Campus has a rich history that ties in directly to the development of the Magnificent Mile and Streeterville. In his remarks, Marc shared the story of how Nathan MacChesney, an attorney and Northwestern Trustee had advocated back in 1915 to create a unified single campus on the current site. At that time, the land was a “dreary expanse of rubble and mud,” which had been developed and beautified by the mid 1920′s when the postcard above was published.
