1985–Taste of Chicago Over the Years–from the archives

It was in June of 1985 that Eli’s Cheesecake became the first non-beer sponsor of the Taste of Chicago. We partnered with Kraft’sPhiladelphia Brand Cream Cheese to sponsor “Dancing Under the Stars” on the stage of the
Petrillo Band Shell.

What could be more perfect to introduce the evening than Eli dancing with Ms. Philly (check out the shoes). One thing about my dad was that he was always willing to do fun things to promote his brand and he was a tireless advocate of our customers; a trait we are very proud to continue to this date.

From the Archives of The Entrepreneurship Institute

One of the most active Entreprenurs Organization is the Entrepreneurship
Institute which hosts entrepreneurs forums throughout the country. In th the
past several months, the Institute has placed 250 speeches by leading
entrepreneurs on its web site with free access. These speeches date as far back
as 1998 and include some speeches by organizations that are now long gone.

Imagine my suprise and delight to see my speech in September of 1998 posted
to the site. I have included a link so you can listen to my view of the world
and our business at that time. It is pretty amazing to see how the same issues
are driving our business with additional complexities in a post 9-11 world
