Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are delighted to once again support Chicago’s In Good Taste, a breast cancer research initiative by the Lynn Sage Foundation.

The Lynn Sage foundation was founded in honor and memory of Lynn Sage, a beloved mother, daughter, wife and native Chicagoan who tragically died at the age of 39 as a result of her battle with breast cancer. Money raised by the foundation, with the help of more than 180 participating Chicago establishments, including Eli’s Cheesecake, will help fund local breast cancer research. Eli’s Cheesecake is happy to be a part of this initiative which awards scholarships to talented researchers in the early stages of their careers with the hopes of positioning these researchers to secure larger funding as their careers grow.

Throughout the month of October, customers can purchase our limited edition Pink Ribbon Cheesecake, at our Bakery Cafe, and a donation $1 will benefit the cause. It’s Eli’s Original Plain Cheesecake topped with a raspberry gelee, whipped mousse topping, pieces of white chocolate and finished with a ribbon cookie made with our signature All Butter Shortbread Cookie recipe! Customers can also fill a separate form, available at the front register, if they would like to make a cash or credit card donation.

Apple Season

Did you know Eli’s Cheesecake uses fresh Michigan apples in desserts such as the Apple Streusel Cheesecake and in the Apple Bavarian Tart? These make for perfect fall flavors because they are in season from August-October

Why do we choose Michigan apples? Michigan is the nation’s third largest producer of apples. There are more than 11.3 million apple trees covering 35,500 acres on 825 family-run farms in Michigan. Growers pride themselves on a rich heritage of producing an array of fine apple varieties. For us, it is important that we deliver the best and freshest ingredients to our customers, which is why Michigan apples are used.

But why eat apples?

You know the saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”? Well, it’s true. Apples are an important part of a healthy diet. They are packed with powerful flavonoids and antioxidants, and filled with fiber—while being low in sodium and calories—which makes them a healthy choice for every body! They can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and cancer.

Eli’s Cheesecake Welcomes Donovan & Ritchie Marketing Brokers

Over the last two weeks, Eli’s Cheesecake has welcomed Donovan Brokerage and the Ritchie Marketing Group through day-long training sessions. Individuals from both groups received knowledge on Eli’s Cheesecake through presentations, like Marc Schulman’s history of Eli’s Cheesecake. No one can better explain the history of Eli’s Cheesecake than president, Marc Schulman. Eli’s Senior Marketing Manager, Sarah D. Zupancic, led a Food Trends presentation which discussed the way Eli’s is keeping up with evolving food trends. Our Director of Food Safety & Regulatory Affairs, Joyce L. Watford, gave a presentation on Eli’s Food Safety and quality control. A Competitive cheesecake Tasting was also done in order to best illustrate the way Eli’s Cheesecake compares to other branded cheesecakes. A factory tour was also given where our brokers were able to see the labor, by hard-working associates, that goes into creating Chicago’s finest desserts. Finally, in order to familiarize themselves with our products, our brokers were guided through a vignette of all our desserts, including potential displays and suggested plating ideas, and they were able to sample all and take some for the road.
