Eli’s/Wright College Farmers Market Celebrates Another Great Season!

Held every Thursday starting in mid-June, the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmers Market has developed a loyal clientele of market shoppers and vendors over its 10 year history. Unique for its educational component with Wright College, the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences and the Master Gardeners of the University of Illinois Extension and its social service partners in New Horizon Center for the Developmentally Disabled, Vaughn High School, Bright Endeavors and Urban Meadows, Eli’s hosted a celebration to thank all the partners and Chad Nichols of Nichols Farms for his strong support and participation.

Thursday, August 27th is Tri-Colored Pepper Day at the Eli’s/Wright College Farmers Market

This Thursday, Nichols Farms of Marengo, Illinois and Piedt Farms of Eau Claire, Michigan will be highlighting their farm grown peppers at the Eli’s/Wright College Farmers Market. Red, Green and Yellow Peppers will be highlighted and are perfect in the recipe below. For those who can’t wait to get home, Eli’s Chef Antonio will be grilling Steak Tacos with a selection of Red, Green and Yellow Peppers.

Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Program Graduation

The Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Summer Program, now in its seventh year, is a partnership between the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences (CHSAS), Wright College, and The Eli’s Cheesecake Company. Students have the opportunity to work at the CHSAS Farm, attend a college-credit class at Wright College and participate in a discussion series at the weekly Eli’s/Wright College Farmers Market. The students have finished their first draft of a cookbook with recipe’s they’ve developed over the summer using locally-sourced ingredients. Many talented and innovative minds behind this unique program spoke at the graduation, as well as an outstanding student from the program, Darius Dixon.

Catch This! Juggling Scheduled to Perform at National Cheesecake Day Celebration Along With a Fun-Filled Day of Acitvities!

Eli’s will be giving away FREE Cheesecake slices at Eli’s Cheesecake World from 9:30am – 2:00pm (one per person). Redmoon Theatre traveled througout the Farmers Market, Bakery Cafe/Retail Store, and bakery to perform for all who attended the event! They plan to be back to perform at the Eli’s Cheesecake Festival in October!

The Farmer’s Market takes place at our bakery, 6701 W. Forest Preserve Drive, Chicago, every Thursday, 7am-1pm, through October 15th.
