@elischeesecake Named as one of the top Twitter Sites for Chicago Tourist Attractions by Chicagonow.com
What is Eli’s Cheesecake? Well, first it was created by a real person, Eli M. Schulman, the famed restaurateur and owner of Eli’s the Place for Steak; second, it continue to be a family business dedicated to quality, innovation and great taste; and third, it is housed at Eli’s Cheesecake World, our state of the art bakery & dessert cafe on Chicago’s northwest side.
Eli’s was honored recently when Chicagonow.com, the new web for the Chicago Tribune and RedEye posted an article by Craig Kannalley of BreakingTweets on Chicago tourist attractions active on Twitter. We were honored that Eli’s Cheesecake World, our home, is listed with some distinguished company, namely, the Adler Planetarium, Buckingham Fountain, the Lions at the Art Institute, the Chicago Theatre, Cloud Gate at Millennium Park and the Field Museum.
Join Eli’s Cheesecake, Barbara Maldano and a great group of local internet professional for the Social Media and Cheesecake Tweet-up (free) next Thursday, the 23rd of July at the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmers Market.
This is family day at the Farmers Market and we have activities all morning long highlighted by a performance by the Red Moon Theatre.
Please join Barbara Maldonado at the Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe for a breakfast Tweet-Up to learn more about Eli’s and their Farmer’s Market partners.
Life has certainly changed for Barbara Maldonado in the last year. Finding herself in transition after nine plus years on the account services side working on client projects for Philip Morris, McDonald’s, Miller Brewing Company and several others, she dove into social media as a way to differentiate herself from other job seekers and to help land a job in a very competitive and frustrating market.
Barbara began maximizing her contacts and networking via LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Her hard work and hours activating her network and a “pay it forward” mantra paid off with interviews with NBC 5 Chicago, Chicago Magazine, Time Out Chicago and CNN.com talking about utilizing social media when in transition and building your personal brand. And, most importantly, it was the participation in a LinkedIn group that landed her current position at Marketing Resources, Inc. in Elmhurst, IL where she serves as a Business Development Manager and is helping to implement the social media strategy for the agency.
Now that she has landed at her full-time job, Barbara continues to hone her social media skills and outreach as a way to build her network, prospect clients and help others create their social media brand. Currently, Barbara keeps busy with her role at Marketing Resources, Inc. as well as providing social media strategy and implementation for several clients independently. She also hosts “Twitter Class” for friends and colleagues who are interested in Twitter, but are nervous about jumping in. Thus far, she has hosted two Tweet-Ups in Chicago, one in Milwaukee and is excited about her upcoming Tweet-Up co-hosted with Eli’s Cheesecake Company on July 23rd.
When not online Barbara can be found attending class for her Masters in Non-Profit Management at Spertus College or the many volunteer projects she lends her time to…but more than likely she is Tweeting and updating her Facebook from there too.

“It took me 20 years to truly appreciate the awesomeness that is cheesecake. I usually joke that I live far away from all of the good stuff since I’m not very close to the Loop, but I got lucky because I live blocks away from Eli’s Cheesecake.
Eli’s now has 637 fans on Facebook and 1,217 followers on Twitter!
