Another Great Farmer’s Market

We had great weather for our 2nd Farmer’s Market of the season.  Today, the featured fruit was strawberries!  We also had the first presentation of our speaker series.  Seneca Kern, co-founder of WeFarm America, spoke to us, as well as Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences students and the public about urban agriculture.  The Farmer’s Market happens every Thursday from 7am-1pm.  The speaker series is every week, following the market at 1pm.

Eli’s Celebrates 9th Annual Father’s Day Bike Ride

Nine years ago, we approached our friends Rudy Kubica, the owner of Rudy’s Bike Shop, and Dr. Charles Guengerich, now the retired President of Wright College with the idea of creating a signature event the morning of Father’s Day–a 10 mile bike ride through the Portage Park, Dunning and Wright Community. Every year the bike ride has grown and we had over 220 participants–many of whom ride with us every year. The ride is free, starts with a complimentary continental breakfast and finishes with a drawing of over 20 prizes donated by Eli’s Cheesecake, Rudy’s Bike Shop, Alderman Cullerton, State Representative Martwick and Hands over Stress.

We extend our thanks to our event chair, Sharon Mrowiec & Family as well as all our associates at Eli’s and to the Chicago Police Department for providing a safe path for the ride.
