Eli’s a part of Green City Market BBQ

Eli’s Cheesecake was part of the Green City Market Chef BBQ in Lincoln Park on July 18th. The event included over 100 chefs and restaurants using fruits, veggies, cheeses, and meats from the market to create a tasty dish! Our fantastic culinary team made a Goat Cheese Cheesecake topped with a raspberry sauce and blackberries. It was a successful event that we were happy to be a part of, and the Goat Cheese Cheesecake was a hit!

Eli’s Cheesecake Celebrates Special Olympics 45th Birthday

On July 18th, Eli’s Cheesecake helped celebrate Special Olympics’ 45th birthday. Although the weather was hot, Special Olympics participants still celebrated their achievements at Grant Park in Chicago with a celebratory big Eli’s Cheesecake.

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke cuts the first piece of the celebration cake in honor of Chicago’s Special Olympics birthday and the athletes enjoyed their slice of Eli’s Cheesecake!

The Special Olympics is one of the world’s most celebrated athletic traditions, with 4 million athletes in 170 countries, which hold more than 53,000 competitions every year.  Read more about the Chicago’s Special Olympics in the Chicago Tribune:,0,984295.story

Eli’s preparing for National Cheesecake Week!

After a very successful Taste of Chicago, Eli’s is looking forward to National Cheesecake Day on July 30! But Eli’s thinks cheesecake deserves more than one day of fun, so we are preparing for a weeklong celebration for National Cheesecake Day! July 25-30 Eli’s will be celebrating with special events like a live performance by Redmoon Theater, a classic car show, grilled lunches, free cheesecake, and so much more!

Quigley Wins Stanley Cup Wager and Honors Blackhawks’ Championship with Resolution

Today, U.S. Representative Quigley received clam chowder from Legal Sea Foods and a case of Harpoon beer from U.S. Representative Lynch as a result from the wager they agreed upon over the outcome of the Blackhawks vs. Bruins during the Stanley Cup finals.

Quigley showed good sportsmanship by giving Lynch an Eli’s Cheesecake and Nuts on Clark.

Taste of Chicago 2013 Opening Day!

Hard to Believe! It was July 4th 1980 that Eli’s Cheesecake made its public debut at the first Taste of Chicago. 33 years later we are honored to be the only vendor still in the Taste that was there that first day!

Join us at 11am today (Wednesday, July 10th) at Buckingham Fountain as we celebrate the 33rd Birthday of Eli’s Cheesecake & the Taste of Chicago with our 1,000 lb. Birthday Cake free to all and then join us during the five days of Taste at the Eli’s Cheesecake Booth near the corner of Jackson & Columbus.

Thank You Bill Zwecker in the Chicago Sun Times for Celebrating the 33rd Birthday of Eli’s Cheesecake & The Taste of Chicago

It will be a sweet treat at Buckingham Fountain at 11 am. Wednesday as Eli’s Cheesecake serves up a 1,000-pound cheesecake celebrating both the 33rd birthday of Taste of Chicago and Eli’s being the only original vendor still participating in the Taste. The event will feature a Cirque Shanghai performance, “Happy Birthday” sung by the Australian Bee Gees troupe and celebrity cake-cutter Charlie Barnett of “Chicago Fire.” The humongous pile of ingredients for the cake includes 450 pounds of cream cheese, 70 pounds of sugar, 612 eggs and 125 pounds of buttercream icing.

Getting ready for Taste!

Eli’s Cheesecake has been busy preparing for Taste of Chicago.  The 33rd annual Taste of Chicago takes place July 10-14 at Grant Park in Chicago.  Eli’s has never missed a Taste of Chicago and we are excited to be back for another year!

To help kick off the Taste of Chicago, Eli’s served cheesecake our O’Hare kiosk in United terminal 1.

Also, because Eli’s has been at the Taste of Chicago every year since its opening in 1980, we are also preparing for a big birthday celebration for Eli’s and the Taste.  On July 10 at 11am, Eli’s will have a 1,000 pound cake at Buckingham Fountain so the public can help celebrate Eli’s and the Taste’s 33rd birthday.

Happy Birthday America! Happy Birthday Eli’s Cheesecake at the first Taste of Chicago on July 4, 1980

Our Founder, Eli Schulman, with Rich Melman, Don Roth and Arnie Morton at Mayor Jane Byrne’s Office announcing the first Taste of Chicago on July 4, 1980.

Eli’s Cheesecake is the only vendor that has participated in the first Taste of Chicago since it started on July 4th, 1980.

Looking forward to the start of the Taste of Chicago 2013 on Wednesday, July 10th. Join us at 11am at Buckingham Fountain as we celebrate the 33rd Birthday of the Taste of Chicago and Eli’s Cheesecake with a Giant 1,000 lb. Eli’s Cheesecake that will be served free to all the attendees after the Opening Ceremony.
