One of Eli’s Cheesecake’s longest and most important partnerships is with the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences. Located in the Mt. Greenwood neighborhood on the far south west side of Chicago on the last working farm in the City, CHSAS is a national model for its success in producing leaders in food science, animal sciences, life sciences and the over 200 careers related to agriculture.
Commencement Day is always a special occasion for Eli’s President, Marc Schulman, who serves as a co-chair of the Business Advisory Board for the school.
For the 2010 commencement ceremony, CHSAS was honored to have Dr. Molly Jahn, the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and former Deputy Secretary for Research, Education and Economics at the US Department of Agriculture deliver the commencement address. Dr. Jahn has been a strong supporter of the mission of CHSAS and it was great to have her share an inspiring message with our graduates and their families. In the photo above, Dr. Jahn recognizes the “Top Ten” for their academic accomplishments. It is most fitting that CHSAS Valedictorian, Dantrell Cotton, will be entering Dr. Jahn’s College at UW-Madison.
David Gilligan, former Principal of CHSAS and Senior Officer of the Chicago Public Schools, Principal William Hook, and Business Advisory Board Co-Chairs Rouhy Shalabi and Marc Schulman thank Dr. Jahn for her speech at the 2010 graduation.
Eli’s Marc Schulman and Master Ag Teacher, Lucille Shaw, thank Dr. Jahn for her support of student scholarships and leadership opportunities for CHSAS students to pursue their educational dreams at the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
