Eli’s Cheesecake was delighted to participate with Cook County Clerk David Orr and 20 other local Chicago businesses in welcoming the first recipients of civil union licenses in Illinois. When the Clerk’s Office opened at 7:30 on Wednesday, June 1st, there were dozens of couples lined up to be among the first to receive the licenses. After receiving their license, couples were invited to a celebration featuring slices of Elis’ Cheesecake, a number of prize drawings, including a private reception on Chicago’s First Lady, and for the first couples, an Eli’s Celebration Cake commemorating the Civil Union.
The first couple to get a Civil Union License, Janean Latricia Watkins and Lakeesha Harris, are congratulated by Eli’s President Marc Schulman.
