Thursday’s are very special at Eli’s during the summer. For the 8th year, we are hosting the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmer’s Market in our parking lot. This is the first year that our business park has been named the Wright Campus Business Park so the Market is really on the Wright Campus.

We have great vendors at our Thursday Farmer’s Market. Nichols Farms has been the anchor of the Market and we are fortunate to have Seedling which is expanding to key markets in the midwest including the Zingerman’s
Farmer’s Market in Ann Arbor.

Eli’s Master Gardner and Market Manager Kathy Kirby invites customers to shop the Eli’s Garage Sale. Also we were delighted to welcome fresh flower arrangements from UrbanMeadows, a program of Thresholds.

Enjoying a summer opening day at the Market are Eli’s Lucy Frimml and Helen Sullivan. Eli’s Mary Gale welcomes Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director George Borovik to the Market. It is an annual tradition of the PPCC to have its June meeting at Eli’s on the opening day of the Market.

We are fortunate to have the summer long presence of the University of Illinois Extension and its Master Gardner Program. The programs of the Extension are beneficial to the very young as well the old.

The Farmer’s Market at Eli’s means lunch on the grill. We invite you to join us for breakfast (which is free if you send $10 at the Market) or lunch on the grill. Also visit the Wright College tent to learn about new classes and opportunities for Wright.

Eli’s is very grateful for the support of the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce. On the left, Rudy of Rudy’s Bike Shop, and a sponsor of the Father’s Day Bike Ride reports to the members. On the right, Elana Schulman of the Happiness Club tells Ted Szabo and the other PPCC members about the group and its mission.

The Happiness Club is a group of kids from all over the Chicago area who write most of their own materials and who encourage their peers to do the right thing using the power of music. Housed at Wright College, the Happiness Club wowed the audience.

Members of the Happiness Club pose with Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, George Borovik, President Ted Szabo, Wright College President Charles Guenerich and Eli’s Marc Schulman.
