With Chicago’s magnificent skyline and lakefront on either side, thousands of Chicagoans and visitors joined Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the group, Chicago, to celebrate the 25th birthday of Eli’s Cheesecake and the Taste of Chicago. The celebration was a great success with complimentary Eli’s birthday cheesecake for all and was a great testament to how important the Taste of Chicago has been to Eli’s growth and the great affection for Eli’s Cheesecake in Chicago and around the world.
A cheesecake so big that we have to use a forklift to put into position. Over 125 Eli’s associates were involved in our activities on Saturday, June 25th, including the cutting and serving of the big cake, the operation of our Booth and our hospitality tent.

Second City Alumni and comedian, Tim Kazurinsky, was the emcee for the event and helped cut all the cake for the thousands that were served.
Celebrating the success of the Big Cake and Eli’s activities at Taste was Eli’s Taste General Manager, Mike Neuhaus, with daughter, Nicole and wife, Peg.
The creation of an Eli’s Giant Cheesecake and the coordination to assemble it and serve it is a monumental task. Several thousand people who enjoyed the complimentary cheesecake are very grateful for the exceptional work of Diana Moles and Laurel Boger.
All of us at Eli’s were honored to have Mayor Daley participate in the Celebration and he presented us with his Greetings as a momento of the event.
