One of the great traditions that we enjoy participating in is the “wager” when Chicago teams reach the post-season and then the world championship. It was back in 1985 that Eli’s Cheesecake received its first national mention on air when then Mayor Harold Washington served our cheesecake in New Orleans at a party before the Super Bowl. In 2005, we had the unbelievable experience of creating a World Series Victory Cheesecake for the Chicago White Sox and was able to present it to Manager Ozzie Guillen and White Sox Owner Jerry Reinsdorf, together with Mayor Richard M. Daley at City Hall.

It was an honor when Mayor Daley wagered Eli’s Cheesecake with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer when the Chicago Rush went to Arena Bowl in LasVegas to play the Orlando Predators for the Arena Football World Championship.

Happily, the Chicago Rush won the game and therefore Mayor Daley would be on the receiving end of the wager, but those of at Eli’s don’t want to see the loser deprived of great Eli’s Cheesecake from Chicago.

We sent Eli’s Cheesecake to Mayor Dyer in Orlando and we were honored to receive his note of thanks for the “delicious….amazing cheesecake.”

Thank you Mayor Dyer!
