Recently the Chicago Sun Times did a survey of the top 10 classic Chicago foods that tourists wanted to sample during their visit to Chicago. Several of the items were the food groups that Chicago is best known for: deep dish pizza, Chicago hot dogs and italian beef sandwiches.
Of the branded food items, one was Eli’s Cheesecake and another was Frango Mints. For that reason, we were very excited when we were given the opportunity by Federated Department Stores, the owner of Macy’s, Marshall
Field’s and Bloomingdale’s, to create a Frango Mint Cheesecake made by Eli’s in Chicago that would combine two of Chicago’s most famous foods.
The Frango Cheesecake by Eli’s made its public debut on Thursday, July 14th at a luncheon meeting of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association which featured Federated Chairman, CEO and President Terry Lundgren.
We were delighted that his remarks began with a reference to the dessert that the over 400 guests in attendance enjoyed which was our Frango Mint Cheesecake served by the chefs at the Hyatt Regency Chicago with rasberry coulis, fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.
The Frango Cheesecake by Eli’s will be making its debut at the flagship State Street Store which is being rebranded as Macy’s in early September. We look forward to the Frango expanding to other Macy’s stores in the midwest and then throughout the country as Frango is expanded to those other markets. As Mr. Lundgren note, the new Macy’s will have over 800 stores making it the first national brand department store in the country. We are honored that Eli’s can be part of the Frango and Chicago story and that we look forward to growing with Macy’s.
