It was our please to bring the dessert when Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng hosted a day before Thanksgiving Dinner for 400 people at the Pacific Garden Mission’s Gospel League Home in Chicago on Wednesday, November 23rd. Luol is a real inspiration for youth in our community and we were delighted to join him and our friends from Boston Market to bring smiles to people in need in our community,
It was most appropriate to host this event at the Pacific Garden Mission since this institution has has been a refuge for those weary of struggling through life’s storms since 1877. Countless millions have come to the “Old Lighthouse” in Chicago seeking food, shelter and clothing as well as medical and dental care. Many also come seeking the answer to their ongoing struggle. The Gospel League Home was established in 1941 to specifically address the needs of homeless women and children. It provides dorm-like housing for approximately 150 women and serves between 5,000 and 7,000 meals each month
Luol was a great host for the event making sure that everyone had seconds of dinner and their Eli’s Cheesecake.
Luol brought many friends from the Bulls Organization, including Bulls #1 Fan, Benny the Bull, who is also a great Eli’s Cheesecake fan.
Eli’s Marc and Maureen Schulman helping Luol pass out dessert from Eli’s.
