Father’s Day in Chicago now means it is time to go bike riding at the Annual Father’s Day BIke Ride that is sponsored by Eli’s Cheesecake, Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop. Pictured above is Wright President, Charles Guengerich, State Representative Joe Lyons, Rudy of Rudy’s Bike and Shop and Eli’s Marc Schulman. The 10 mile recreational ride started at Eli’s and went through the Wright Campus, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Edison Park and Norwood Park.
We also thank Representative Lyons, Senator James DeLeo and 38th Ward Alderman Tom Allen for supporting the event with donations for the raffle which was held at the conclusion of the ride.
Our thanks to Debbie Osman, Eli’s lead biker and organizer of the event. Debbie was assisted by Donna Carberry, Mary Gale and Earline (better known as Debbie’s Mom) and our cafe staff, Chef Antonio and Chris Smith.
The Father’s Day BIke Ride has become a tradition for many families in the neighborhood who look forward to starting off their family celebrations with a continental breakfast at Eli’s and then a family ride.
This event would not be possible without the support of Mayor Daley’s Bicycle Ambassadors and the Chicago Police Department. We always want a “safe ride” and attention to personal safety and riding with a police escort makes this a fun family event.
This is the first Father’s Day that we can celebrate Eli’s Cheesecake officially being locate in the Wright Campus Business Park. We thank our friends from Wright for their support in bringing families together for Father’s Day.
A sunny but hot day brought out lots of smiles and family memories. We look forward to you joining us next year on Father’s Day, Sunday June 15th, 2008.
