Building a More Perfect Community– Entrepreneur & Community College Working Together, Marc Schulman, President of Eli’s Cheesecake & Dr. Charles Guengerich, President of Wright College
Chicago and the City Colleges of Chicago will be hosting the 7th Annual Conference for the National Association of Community College Entrepreneurs (NACC) from October 11th to the 14th. NACCE was created to establish entrepreneurship education as a core offering to foster economic development through community colleges. Today there are over 1,000 members of NACCE representing community colleges nationally and many of whom will come to the Chicago Conference to share the best practices of entrepreneurship education and student business incubation at the community college level.
Eli’s President, Marc Schulman, and Wright College President, Dr. Charles Guengerich will discuss how the partnership between Eli’s and Wright has evolved and the expansive number of participating partners. Eli’s has partnered with Wright for over 20 years and Eli’s is very proud to be a founding property owner in what is now the Wright Campus Business Park. Examples of the Eli’s/Wright Partnership include Eli’s the summer program with high school students from the Chicago High School for Ag Sciences in sustainable agriculture entrepreneurship as a component of the Eli’s/Wright College Thursday Farmers Market. Additionally, Eli’s donates all the baked goods and desserts (in partnership with Stewart’s Coffee which donates all coffee), for the SGA Café at Wright a student entrepreneurial initiative whereby 100% of the Café proceeds go to student scholarships.
