It is an emotional time for us here at Eli’s, as after 39 great years our downtown restaurant, Eli’s the Place for Steak, is closed. But the Eli’s legacy of great food lives on in our cheesecakes, in our cafe on the northwest side of Chicago, and now on TV! Yesterday we had the pleasure of appearing on ABC (Channel 7 in Chicago) with anchor Alan Krashesky. Our Chef at Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe, Antonio Rivera, prepared my Dad’s recipe for Liver Eli, a famous dish at our restaurant, and our popular Eli’s Smoosh. We’ll be preparing a variation made with beef, Steak Eli, and $1 Smooshes at our weekly Farmer’s Market this Thursday from 11am-2pm. Even though Eli’s the Place for Steak is closed, you can still get great food at Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe.
