Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Wager by Mayor Richard M. Daley; Eli’s Cheesecake Part of the Wager at the United Center
April and May have been very busy months for the Chicago Blackhawks. It started all the way back on April 16th when the Blackhawks started the playoffs against the Nashville Predators. After that 4-2 series win, Eli’s was fortunate to be a participant in the wager by Mayor Daley with Mayor Gregor Robertson of Vancouver. After the Blackhawks won the Vancouver series again 4-2, we joined Mayor Daley at City Hall as he wagered with Mayor Chuck Reed of San Jose. After the Blackhawks won that series 4-0. we sent Mayor Reed a supply of Eli’s Cheesecake as a consolation gift.
For the NHL Stanley Cup Finals, we had the honor to join Mayor Daley, Blackhawks Chairman, Rocky Wirtz, Team President John McDonough, Senior Vice President Jay Blunk and other Blackhawks Officials for the Stanley Cup Wager with Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia. It was a great turnout by Chicago Food Companies and Institutions as we helped the Mayor celebrate the Blackhawks reaching the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1992 with a last win in 1961.

Go Blackhawks! Eli’s Cheesecake Delighted to be part of Mayor Daley’s “wager” with the Mayor of San Jose on the Hawks v. Sharks Series
It was a pleasure for all of us at Eli’s Cheesecake to be part of Mayor Richard M. Daley’s wager with San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed over the Western Conference Finals for the National Hockey League. Eli’s was proud to be part of that prior round victory over the Vancouver Canucks and Eli’s look forward to delivering Eli’s Cheescake as a “conciliation prize” to the Mayor of Vancouver and soon the Mayor of San Jose. We look forward to the Blackhawks bringing the Stanley Cup back to Chicago!
The wager was held in the Mayor’s Conference Room which was filled with a great display of Chicago specialty foods and flowers.
Eli’s Marc Schulman supports the Mayor’s Wager with a commitment to send 500 slices of Eli’s Cheesecake to San Jose in the unlikely event that the Blackhawks win. Far more probable is that Eli’s will send 4 cakes to Mayor Reed–”why should he be deprived of great cheesecake from Chicago.”
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley is a huge supporter of Chicago Food Companies. The Blackhawk’s road to the Stanley Cup is a great way to highlight the uniqueness and quality of Chicago Food Companies.
