Eli’s Holiday Dock Sale on Saturday December 15th a Great Success!

It is only twice a year on Magnificent Mile Lights Festival Saturday (the Saturday before Thanksgiving) and the week before Christmas (this year on Saturday December 15th) that we open up our Dock for a Special Holiday Sale. This is a tradition that started on Dakin Street in a Tent and has continued to our Bakery & Cafe on Forest Preserve Drive. You can shop the Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe daily with the biggest selection of Eli’s Cheesecake anywhere as well as special deals on our Sweet Imperfections, but there is something special about going on the Dock and seeing the amazing selection.

Thanks to all our families at Eli’s for making Dock Sale Saturday such a great success.  We are delighted to welcome our customers to our home and to highlight the dedication and great work of our people throughout the year.

Thanksgiving Dock Sale Saturday at Eli’s Cheesecake—Looking forward to our Holiday Dock Sale on Saturday–December 13th

It only happens four times each year at Eli’s Cheesecake
World—our Dock Sale; once at Easter, once during the Festival, on Magnificent
Mile Lights Festival Day, which is the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and once
before Christmas, this year it will be Saturday, December 13th.

The Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe is open throughout the day with Hal
Roach, of Eli’s the Place for Steak fame on the piano, and demonstrations and
sampling throughout the day.

The origins of our Dock Sale started with the Tent Sale at our
first bakery on Dakin Street. Back then, we had limited indoor space so we
erected a tent in our parking lot; very tough in Chicago in December.

Eli’s Refrigerated Dock is turned into a Cheesecake Emporium for
the day as we create an opportunity for our customers to buy a wide range of our
cheesecakes and desserts that are now available normally.

Jeff Anderson and Marc Schulman congratulate Ramito Garcia on
his 26th Annversary at Eli’s. Like Marc, Ramito is the 2nd generation at Eli’s
and worked with Eli from that first cake in the kitchen of Eli’s the Place for
Steak.

Mary Gale and Sharon Mrowiec get ready to greet the customers at
the Dock.

Mike Neuhaus congratulates Nancy Hermes on her certification as
a Fork Lift Operator. Nancy helps Mike Eli’s inventory up to date and available
for our customers.

Kingsley Agyarko and Lisa Ripka make sure that the Dock is
set.

Easter Bunny Visits Eli’s Dock Sale

The Easter Bunny was busy helping customers at our Easter Dock Sale this past Saturday. Eli’s Dock Sales are one of our oldest traditions that originated when our bakery was located on Dakin Street. Our only retail selling area was a two door freezer and the only way to open up to the public was with a tent—which can get pretty cold in Chicago in December. Our Cafe Co-Manager, Hilda Carillo, remembers well when it was below zero outside and we had a sale in the snow.

Today the Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe is open 7 days a week for desserts, lunch and the biggest selection of Eli’s Cheescakes and desserts anywhere. We have Dock Sales (literally on our shipping dock and far warmer than the tent) on the Saturday before Easter, the weekend of the Eli’s Cheesecake Festival, the Saturday before Thanksgiving (also the Saturday of the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival) and the two Saturdays before Christmas. It is an opporunity for our customers to see many of our new products as the dock gives us room to highlight a even bigger selection. Mark down September 17th and 18th for our next Dock Sales in connection with the annual Eli’s Cheesecake Festival.

Our Pastry Chefs are also in the Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe during the Easter Week. Here Pastry Chefs Martha and Alicia are doing demonstations of chocolate work and decorating cheesecakes for our customers.

Another great tradition at Eli’s is Family Cookie Baking. This is available for birthday parties and also for families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays and during Easter. Families get assistance for our staff and are able to create a wide range of cookies appropriate for the holiday.

Eli’s Gets Ready for the Holidays with a Dock Sale, Performance by the Austrian Choir and Holiday Cookie Baking–all on Saturday, December 11th

One of our longest traditions at Eli’s is our Dock Sale, which orignally was
a tent sale at our first bakery on Dakin Street. Imagine a cold and rainy
Chicago day with a frigid wind chill factor. That was the conditions our
associate, Hilda Carillo, faced back in the early 90′s when we hosted the events
in the Tent. (Hilda is on the right in the photo with Pat Pross on the left).
Our thanks to our Cafe Manager, Kari Miller, for her great work in planning the
day and the support of so many of our associates.

Today the sale is on our Dock, so conditions are far nicer. We do it only a
handful of days each year; one before Easter, on the weekend of our Annual Eli’s
Cheesecake Festival, once on the Saturday before Thanksgiving (also
Magnicificent Mile Lights Festival Saturday), and twice in December–this year
the 11th and next week, December 18th. The exciting part of the Dock Sale is
that you never know what to expect. We have customers in many different
businesses and different countries, so you can find everything from tray
desserts that we created for luxury hotels, to single serve desserts, to some of
our new in development products.

This year we also teamed up with our neighbor, Spectra Merchandising, which
has a division callled efactoryoutlet.us to make the shopping experience a
little more unique. Their holiday sale dates matched ours and we encouraged
customers to shop Eli’s and efactoryoutlet. us by giving gifts if you made a
purchase in a minimum amount at the other comapany. We will be doing this again
on December 18th and also partnering with the New Horizons Center for the
Developmentally Disabled which will be raising funds for its new facility.

Once you visited the Dock Sale, you had to come up to Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe
for a special performance by the Austrian Choir. This group of over 30 community
members attracted a big crowd.

That afternoon (and scheduled again on December 18th), we hosted Holiday
Cookie Baking in our Bakery. This is a sellout each year as families make it a
tradition to bake together at Eli’s. We have all the supplies and provide lunch
for theguests at a nominal charge.

This is just a preview of what to expect on December 18th so try to visit us
that day or any other day before Christmas. The Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe has a
great selection of Eli’s specialty desserts and cheesecakes and is fun to visit
for dessert, lunch and shopping.
