Eli’s Celebrates Father’s Day with 3rd Annual Father’s Day Bike Ride

For

Father’s Day in Chicago now means it is time to go bike riding at the Annual Father’s Day BIke Ride that is sponsored by Eli’s Cheesecake, Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop. Pictured above is Wright President, Charles Guengerich, State Representative Joe Lyons, Rudy of Rudy’s Bike and Shop and Eli’s Marc Schulman. The 10 mile recreational ride started at Eli’s and went through the Wright Campus, Portage Park, Jefferson Park, Edison Park and Norwood Park.

We also thank Representative Lyons, Senator James DeLeo and 38th Ward Alderman Tom Allen for supporting the event with donations for the raffle which was held at the conclusion of the ride.

Our thanks to Debbie Osman, Eli’s lead biker and organizer of the event. Debbie was assisted by Donna Carberry, Mary Gale and Earline (better known as Debbie’s Mom) and our cafe staff, Chef Antonio and Chris Smith.

The Father’s Day BIke Ride has become a tradition for many families in the neighborhood who look forward to starting off their family celebrations with a continental breakfast at Eli’s and then a family ride.

This event would not be possible without the support of Mayor Daley’s Bicycle Ambassadors and the Chicago Police Department. We always want a “safe ride” and attention to personal safety and riding with a police escort makes this a fun family event.

This is the first Father’s Day that we can celebrate Eli’s Cheesecake officially being locate in the Wright Campus Business Park. We thank our friends from Wright for their support in bringing families together for Father’s Day.

A sunny but hot day brought out lots of smiles and family memories. We look forward to you joining us next year on Father’s Day, Sunday June 15th, 2008.

Eli’s, Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop co-sponsor 2nd Annual Father’s Day Family Ride

Last year, the Inaugural Father’s Day Family Bike Ride sponsored by Eli’s Cheesecake, Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop attraced 65 rider. This year, we had over 170 participants as word got out about what a great time and ride everyone had. With the support of the Chicago Bicycle Federation, the Chicago Police Department and Mayor Daley’s Bike Ambassadors, we extended the ride to 10 miles.

The route for the Father’s Day Family Ride took our riders from Eli’s, through the Wright Campus, past Smyser School and parts of the Portage Park Community. We then crossed over the Kennedy Expressway at Gladstone Park and went up to Norwood Park before returning to Eli’s.

Before the ride started, Mayor Daley’s Bicycle Ambassadors made a presentation on bike safety.

The Bicycle Ambassadors and the Chicago Police Department ensured a safe ride for the big crowd..

We are very proud that this was a Family Ride and we had many Father’s and Mother’s bring children to participate. Safety and fun were
foremost for all.

Charles Guengerich, President of Wright College, and an event co-sponsor brought a contingent of riders from Wright—the Wright Cycling Club.

Every rider appreciated a water stop at Norwood Park. Our thanks to Eli’s Event Chair, Debbie Osman, on the left, and Maria White for providing the respite.

The Father’s Day Family Ride would not have been possible without the support of (f-r) Lt. Jeff Gale or the Chicago Police Department and
his team of officers, Eli’s Foundation Head, Mary Gale, and State Representative Joe Lyons. Joe provided prizes for our raffle and was a great participant in the ride.

The Portage Park and Wright Community is fortunate to have the expertise, service and committment of Rudy and the staff of Rudy’s Cycle & Fitness, a landmark in our neighborhood.

Rudy and Chuck Guengerich of Wright celebrate the success of the 2nd Annual Father’s Day Family Ride.

State Rep. Joe Lyons (l) and Eli’s President, Marc Schulman (r) congratulate President Chuck Guengerich of Wright for his support of the event and for organizing a Wright Cycling Team for the event.

Bob Mann of Eli’s and Galina Mann congratulate Debbie Osman on her planning for this successful event for Eli’s, Wright and Rudy’s. Look forward to joining us next year on Sunday, June 17h for the 3rd Annual Father’s Day Family Ride.

Eli’s Inaugural Father’s Day Bike Ride a Great Success–Thanks to our Partners, Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop

We had a great start to Father’s Day at Eli’s Cheesecake with our Inaugural Father’s Day Bike Ride. We had great community partners in Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop, fantastic bike partners in the Chicago Bicycle Federation and Mayor Daley’s Bicycle Ambassadors and a smooth, safe ride thanks to the 16th District of the Chicago Police Department and Commander Neil Sullivan.

Our thanks to Eli’s Event Chairman, Debbie Osman, who has worked tirelessly to make a day such a success and to Donna Carberry and Mary Gale, who provided so much support.

Over 100 bicycle riders start out on the 7 mile route through Wright Community, Portage Park and Norwood Park. Eli’s event chairperson, Debbie Osman, follows the police escort.

The northwest side of Chicago and the 16th District is fortunate to Commander Sullivan and the dedicated professionals on his staff. Their assistance guaranteed a safe and very enjoyable ride.

Chicago celebrates Bike the Drive; next big bike event is Eli’s Father’s Day Bike Ride

Thanks to Mayor Daley, Chicago has been named as one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the country. The culmination of the bike year in Chicago was this past Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend when the Outer Drive on Chicago’s Lakefront from 57th Street South to Hollywood was closed to auto traffic and into a giant bike path.

I participated for the first time, with our daughter, Elana, and really enjoyed the ability to weave around bikes and not cars, was just thrilling. We joined over 15,000 Chicagoans who enjoyed this most perfect day of the year.

If you are in Chicago on Sunday, June 19th, we look forward to you participating in our historic first ever Eli’s Cheesecake Father’s Day Bike sponsored by Wright College and Rudy’s Bike Shop. There is no charge to participate in this event and we look forward to a great family day beginning and ending at Eli’s Cheesecake World.

The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation does a great job organizing Bike the Drive and bike events throughout the year.

Chicagoans love to ride their bikes.

How exciting for over 15,000 people to pass through the starting gate.

Don’t miss participating in the first annual Eli’s Cheesecake Father’s
Day Bike Ride
