Eli’s Poud to Support Sharing It Day 2007 at the Merchandise Mart and the Greater Chicago Food Depository

The Merchandise Mart in Chicago is the nation’s largest commercial building with over 4 million square foot of space and over 3.5 million visitors annually to its showrooms, offices and retail space. It is our pleasure to support the Merchandise Mart in “Sharing It Day” when it tenants and friends give food to support the mission of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Merchandise Mart Properties President, Chris Kennedy, and Eli’s Marc Schulman celebrate the success of Sharing It Day with the famed Radio City Rockettes in town for a series of performances at the Rosemont Theatre.

Eli’s Brian Craven and Marc Schulman get ready to give out Eli’s Cheesecake Slices to all food donors to the Sharing It Food Drive. Eli’s teamed up with Potbellys, which gave out certificates for free sandwiches, to insure that all donors were well thanked for their support.

Eli’s also brought “Sharing It” to the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival on Saturday with its tent at Lights Festival Lane. Enough donations were received to give the needy over 10,000 meals this holiday season.

Eli’s Brings Family Fun & Support for the Greater Chicago Food Depository to Lights Festival Lane in partnership with the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences

At Eli’s, we are always delighted when we can support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. There is a tremendous need for food this holiday season as a combination of reduced giving by the food industry and pending federal legislation has curtailed food donations. For the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival,we work with the students and staff at the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences to offer complimentary cheesecake slice decorating for families while allowing all guests the opportunity to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository with donations of canned foods and dollars. This year
our activities will result in over 15,000 meals being provided this holiday season.

The Chicago HIgh School for Agricultural Sciences has the largest FFA Chapter in the State of Illinois and one of the highest percentages of students going onto college in the City of Chicago. CHSAS is very fortunate to have Lucille Shaw, in the center, who is the FFA Chapter Advisor and Master Ag Instructor.

This year was a record year for cheesecake decorating at Lights Festival Lane. Over 15,000 people were able to enjoy decorating and then eating their slice of Eli’s.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository reaches over 600 food
pantries and one half million people each year. Monetary and product donations
are so important to meeting the demand.
