Eli’s Cheesecake Hosts Students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences for Ground Hog Job Shadow Day

Each year, Eli’s welcomes a group of students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences for Groundhog Job Shadow Day. This year we were fortunate to have Alyssa, Kristine, Alexis, Maggie, Sara and Keyshana, all students in the food science career path, come to Eli’s to learn about our business and opportunities in the food industry. Along the way, each student baked their own cake and decorated another to take home.

With all the interest in nutrition and food content, careers relating to food science are booming. We commend our Job Shadow Class of 2007 and wish them great success at college and in their careers.

Chicago High School for Agricultural Science Hosts Chicago Kickoff for Ground Hog Job Shadow Day

On Thursday, February 2nd, the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences hosted the Chicago Public Schools Kickoff Rally for Job Shadow Day. Our thanks to famous television journalist and cattle rancher, Bill Kurtis, who was our guest of honor for the determination of when winter will end.

At Eli’s, we look forward to Monday and Tuesday of next week when we are hosting our job shadow students from CHSAS.

Bill, the CHSAS students and the Ground Hog concur….early Spring. That makes sense when the last month in Chicago has all been above average in temperature.

Marc and Maureen Schulman greet the CHSAS ground hog.

Bill Kurtis shares the story of his career and passion for the land and cattle ranching with the CHSAS students.

Bill Kurtis is joined by the FFA Officers, State Representative Mary Flowers. ETC Chief Officer Jill Wine Banks, LSC Chair and Advisory Board Co-Chair Rouhy Shalabi, Principal David Gilligan and Eli’s, Marc Schulman, Co-Chair of the CHSAS Advisory Board.

Bill tours the CHSAS grounds and feeds one of the school’s horses.

Ground Hog Job Shadow Day comes to Eli’s

When the Kickoff Rally for Ground Hog Job Shadow Day at the Chicago High
School for Agriculture Science ends, the real work of the week begins as several
hundred students start their job shadow experience.

At Eli’s we thank Bill Steadman, our QA Manager, and Job Shadow Captain for
arranging “shadows” in marketing, operations, purchasing, customer service and
retail sales.

We were also fortunate to host a busload of students sponsored by the Cook
County Farm Bureau, who visited Eli’s and the U.S Customs office for a behind
the scenes experience at O”Hare Airport.
