Eli’s Cheesecake Supports the Illinois Film Office at the Sundance Film Festival

At Eli’s, we are always pleased to support the mission of The Illinois Film Office. Under the direction of Brenda Sexton for the past four years, the IFO has gotten new legislation passed which created tax incentives for producing films in Illinois. As a result, Illinois has hosted productions including The Break-Up, Ocean’s Twelve and Batman Begins.

This year, Brenda and the IFO expanded the presence of Illinois at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah by hosting two functions; one at Brenda’s Park City residence that was co-hosted by film critic, Richard Roper, and one at the Main Event Lounge with Chicagoan John Cusack to highlight “Grace is Gone” which was filmed in Illinois.

We provided Eli’s Cheesecake for both events and were delighted when “Grace is Gone” was named as the best dramatic feature at the Festival and was acquired by the Weinstein Company.

The Sundance Film Festival also marked Brenda Sexton’s departure as Director of the Illinois Film Office. Saluted in a Chicago Sun Times editorial for her achievements on behalf of the industry, Brenda will remain
active in the industry. We extend our best wishes to her successor, Betsy Steinberg, who brings an outstanding industry background to the position.

We look forward to continuing to have more experiences like watching “Fred Claus” being filmed this week on Michigan Avenue with scenes at both Water Tower Place and Westfield Northbridge Mall.

Eli’s Cheesecake helps the Illinois Film Office Celebrate the opening of Batman Begins—parts of which were filmed in Chicago

Congratulations to Brenda Sexton, Executive Director of the Illinois Film Office, for her work in bringing the film industry back to Illinois. Thanks to the incentives she and the Governor proposed to the legislature, Chicago streets are busy with film crews creating millions of dollars of investment in Chicago and Illinois.

Lower Wacker Drive and the Chicago Loop play a major role in Batman Begins. The State and City worked closely with the production company for this high tech film including a helicopter landing on LaSalle Street.

Eli’s President, Marc Schulman, with Todd Dalaska of Driehaus Capital Management, and Brenda Sexton, Executive Director of the Illinois Film Office, cut a special Batman Begins Cheesecake that Eli’s created for the post-party following the premiere.

Batman Begins will be one of the great film hits of the summer. We are delighted that part of the film was shot in Chicago.

Eli’s Cheesecake Supports the Illinois Film Office at Sweet Home Chicago in LA.

Illinois is so fortunate to have the dynamic Brenda Sexton as head of the
Illinois Film Office. It is her charge to bring the film industry back to
Illinois and so far she has taken film revenue which fell to $25 million in 2003
to $75 million this year so far. Chicago streets are busy with productions like
the Weatherman and Ocean’s 12.

We help support this initiative by serving up Eli’s Cheesecake at a VIP
industry party. We thank Governor Blagojevich for this nice letter recognizing
our participation.
