Yesterday, Eli’s attended the 4th Annual A Taste That Matters, a culinary event benefitting the Northern Illinois Food Depository. The Northern Illinois Food Depository works to provide nutritious meals to people in need in Boone, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago counties. The event, presented by Jewel-Osco, is the organizations largest fundraiser with more than 600 guests in attendance. Guests enjoyed a variety of food provided by the local businesses and an expansive silent auction. Eli’s provided an array of desserts including our Cherry, Apple, and Dulce de Leche Mini Pies and other bite sized treats including our 7 Layer Bar, Salted Caramel Bar, Pecan Bar and Brownies. We also served tiny slices of our Original Plain cheesecake with two different topping options – a Bittersweet Chocolate Ganache and our Housemade Strawberry Coulis. Eli’s was thrilled to be a part of such a fun event. If you would like to learn more about the organization, please click here.

Eli’s Cheesecake Activities at the Magnificent Mile Lights and Sharing It Day highlighted in the Jewel-Osco Spotlight Ad
Eli’s Cheesecake is a long time supporter of the Greater Chicago Food Depository and its mission to eliminate hunger in Chicago. In the next week, we will be supporting the Depository at two events: on Saturday November 19th as Eli’s partners with the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences offering free cheesecake slice decorating to families attending Lights Festival Lane at the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival while accepting non-perishable food products and cash donations for the Depository. As a thank you, donors will receive a Eli’s Cheesecake pre-packaged slice for a product donation and a free Eli’s Cheesecake for a $10 cash donation.
Then on Tuesday, November 22nd, we will be joining Jewel-Osco and students from the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences at the Merchandise Mart for Sharing It It Day, an annual food drive for the Depository featuring performances by local children’s groups and free samples from Eli’s.

Eli’s Congratulates Jewel-Osco on the success of the 2005 Charities Auction at the Drury Lane Oak Brook Theatre
For almost 20 years, Eli’s Cheesecake has supported what is today the James Jordan Boys and Girls Club. Back then it was the Henry Horner Boys and Girls Club, an antiquated facility in the middle of the Horner Homes. After the first retirement of Michael Jordan and the tragic murder of his father, the Chicago Bulls, the Jordan family and the community built a state of the art club in the name of Mr.. Jordan.
Facilities like this involve many supporters and we are very grateful for the commitment of Jewel Osco to supporting the Jordan Club and also many other leading charities. On Thursday, May 26th, Eli’s Cheesecake was a sponsor and provided dessert for the Jewel-Osco 2005 Charities Auction, one of the premiere fundraising events in the Chicago area. This year’s event, chaired by Nancy Chagares, Vice President of Fresh Food Merchandising at Jewel, raised substantial funds for the Jordan Club and also for the United Way of Chicago, the March of Dimes, the Lincoln Park Zoo, Misericordia, Ed Hogar Del Nino, Alivio Medical Center, the USO and the Hines VA Hospital.
Our thanks to Nancy, to Jewel Osco and to all the partners in the food industry who come together once a year to make an important difference for these charities.
Patricia Smoot, the Club Director at the James Jordan Boys & Girls, always invites friends of Eli’s over to the Jordan Club for a tour and to find a way that you can help this important west side Chicago institution.
Thank you Larry Wahlstrom, Jewel-Osco President, for continuing this great tradition of supporting the James Jordan Club and other worthy Chicago charities.
One long time tradition of the Jewel-Osco Charities Auction is that Eli’s Cheesecake donates dessert. This year Eli’s debuted the new Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake and S’mores Bar.
Celebrating the success of another Jewel-Osco Charities Auction are Jordan Club Board members and event organizers, Ken Rzesutko, President of CA Fortune (also Eli’s broker in Chicago), Nancy Chagares, Vice President of Fresh Food Merchandising at Jewel, Eli’s Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Pete Filippelli, and Eli’s, Marc Schulman
