Eli’s was well represented at the post-race party at Navy Pier by Mary Anne Gaw, Pastry Chef Laurel Boger and Kirsten McCarthy.

Laurel, Mary Anne and Kirsten were fortunate to be joined by four volunteer high school students from the PRO START Program. PRO START is a national school to career program that is a venture of the Illinois Restaurant Association and the Office of Education to Careers of the Chicago Public Schools

The students were Jocey of Roberto Clemente High School and Jessica, Armella and Agrelle of Simeon High School. These four students represented CPS and PRO START with the highest standards for professionalism and enthusiasm

We have been big fans of the Simeon ETC Program in Culinary Arts
since December of 2004 when Ms. Loretta Johnson, the ETC Culinary Coordinator brought a class of of Simeon students to Eli’s Cheesecake World for a tour. Simeon is fortunate to have a great new school and kitchen, but its greatest assets is dedicated and talented students like Jessica, Armella and Agrelle, as is Clemente with Jocey.

Chef Laurel Boger created a special LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon Celebratory Cake for the event.

 

There was a wide range of Eli’s desserts including four flavors of our new Eli’s Pick-Ups and four flavors of Eli’s Cheesecake

 

Elisa Suehs had to win the best dressed contest for her Flying Pig outfit. We congratulate her on coming in second to last in the race; over 9 hours to compete the course
