Eli’s Brings the Dessert as 40,000 runners celebrate a successful LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon at Navy Pier

Eli’s was well represented at the post-race party at Navy Pier by Mary Anne Gaw, Pastry Chef Laurel Boger and Kirsten McCarthy.

Laurel, Mary Anne and Kirsten were fortunate to be joined by four volunteer high school students from the PRO START Program. PRO START is a national school to career program that is a venture of the Illinois Restaurant Association and the Office of Education to Careers of the Chicago Public Schools

The students were Jocey of Roberto Clemente High School and Jessica, Armella and Agrelle of Simeon High School. These four students represented CPS and PRO START with the highest standards for professionalism and enthusiasm

We have been big fans of the Simeon ETC Program in Culinary Arts
since December of 2004 when Ms. Loretta Johnson, the ETC Culinary Coordinator brought a class of of Simeon students to Eli’s Cheesecake World for a tour. Simeon is fortunate to have a great new school and kitchen, but its greatest assets is dedicated and talented students like Jessica, Armella and Agrelle, as is Clemente with Jocey.

Chef Laurel Boger created a special LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon Celebratory Cake for the event.

There was a wide range of Eli’s desserts including four flavors of our new Eli’s Pick-Ups and four flavors of Eli’s Cheesecake

Elisa Suehs had to win the best dressed contest for her Flying Pig outfit. We congratulate her on coming in second to last in the race; over 9 hours to compete the course

Eli’s Cheesecake is Delighted to Support Golf Around Chicago 2005 at Navy Pier

“GOLF AROUND CHICAGO”
TURNS 10

Ladies and gentlemen…start your putters! “Golf Around Chicago” is
celebrating its tenth anniversary with new holes, new challenges, and new
opportunities for fun. The popular miniature golf experience, proceeds from
which benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago, will run from Friday,
March 11 through Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Navy Pier’s beautiful Crystal
Gardens.

To date, nearly 150,000 people have teed off at this whimsical 18-hole
course, which celebrates Chicago’s landmarks, buildings and culture. This year,
five brand new holes have been added, allowing golfers to step back in time to
the flappers and speakeasies of the Roaring ‘20s, putt through the faces that
adorn the futuristic Crown Fountain at Millennium Park, or enjoy the here and
now at one of the course’s other unique challenges.

In addition, the return of previous years’ favorite holes means that players
can once again make their way through the Chicago Stock Yards, go for a spin
down Wacker Drive, and honor the work of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater
Chicago on a hole celebrating the accomplishments of individuals with epilepsy
throughout history.

As in years past, the 2005 Golf Around Chicago holes have been designed and
built by the Chicago area’s top architects and construction companies, all of
whom contributed their time and efforts.

Golf Around Chicago’s course hours will be 10:00 am to 10:00 pm Monday
through Friday, 10:00 am to 11:00 pm Saturdays, and 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Sundays.
Admission is $6.75 for adults, and $5.25 for children under the age of 12. On
weekends, nine-hole play will be available at a reduced rate.

All proceeds from “Golf Around Chicago” benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of
Greater Chicago, which provides a full range of counseling, case management, and
advocacy services to people with epilepsy and their families. The Foundation
serves 43 counties in Northeastern and Central Illinois, and is an independent
affiliate of the national Epilepsy Foundation. Approximately 100,000 people with
epilepsy live in the area served by the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater
Chicago

Happiness Club Peforms at Navy Pier–at Eli’s Cheesecake World this Thursday for the Opening of the Eli’s/Wright Farmer’s Market

One of the groups that Eli’s has been very supportive of is the Happiness
Club. This is a group of 60 kids from all over the Chicago area who write most
of their own material and encourage their peers to stay in school, not to do
drugs and to demonstrate high moral character. The group calls Wright College,
our campus and educational partner home, and even hosts a summer theatre camp
during the summer. On Sunday, the Happiness Club made its summer debut at Navy
Pier with four free shows at the Family Stage.

This Thursday, the Happiness Club will be performing a special noon show in
connection with the opening of the Eli’s/Wright College Farmer’s Market that we
sponsor in connection with the City of Chicago. Held in our parking lot on
Thursdays from 7 to 1pm, there are a number of fresh produce vendors as well as
Eli’s Cheesecake and other specialty baked goods,a series of weekly special
events and our weekly outdoor grilled lunch served from 11 to 1pm.

We also offer a complimentary Continental Breakfast to shoppers
who spend over $5 at the market every Thursday from 7 to 8am. This first Market
will kickoff with a meeting of the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce, our
neighborhood business group.

If you are in town this Thursday come by, or plan a trip for any Thursday
until October
