Congratulations to Northwestern Law School Dean David Zandt for his 25 years of serving as Dean and for his new role as President of the New School in New York

Van Zandt farewell

Eli’s has had a long and special relationship with the Chicago Campus of Northwestern University and the Northwestern University Law School. Eli’s the Place for Steak was a favorite gathering spot for professors at the Law School: Fred Inba, David Ruder and others would walk the block from the Law School to Eli’s. When Eli’s Marc Schulman attended Northwestern Law School, Eli’s hosted many study groups and other student meetings and Eli’s Founder, Eli Schulman, had a very special relationship with the Northwestern Law Alumni who led the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois and had such an impact on the law and government in Illinois: Governor James R. Thompson, Judge Joel Flaum, Attorneys Tony Valukas and Gary Starkman, to name a few.

This holiday season, Northwestern Law School is celebrating the 25 year service of David Van Zandt as Dean of the Law School and honoring him as he moves to become President of the New School in New York. For us at Eli’s, it was a true honor to see that the poster highlighting the Dean’s 25 year service includes a photo of the 150th anniversary cheesecake that Eli’s created in 2009.

Delta Airlines offers Eli’s Cheesecake to passengers in New York and Junior’s in Chicago as it expands service between LaGuardia Airport and Chicago’s Midway Airport

Delta Sweetens Its Service Between New
York City and Chicago With Double the Flight Options

To celebrate, Delta passengers are treated to famous cheesecake
from Junior’s of New York and Eli’s of Chicago

NEW YORK, Feb. 9, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) (PRIMEZONE) — Who doesn’t love cheesecake, especially when it’s from either New York or Chicago? Delta Air Lines is sweetening air service between the Big Apple and the Windy City beginning Feb. 15 when it will double the number of Delta flights between the two markets and celebrate by offering passengers free New York and Chicago cheesecake at select Delta terminals throughout the day.

With the launch of new nonstop service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Chicago’s Midway Airport, and additional service between New York’s JFK Airport and Chicago-O’Hare, Delta will offer customers 12 daily departures between New York and Chicago, including seven new departures between LaGuardia and Midway, and five daily departures between New York-JFK and Chicago-O’Hare — double the number of flights currently offered. To inaugurate this increased service, on Feb. 15 Delta will give Chicagoans a free taste of New York’s legendary Junior’s Cheesecake in the gate area of Midway from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., CST and New Yorkers a taste of Chicago’s renowned Eli’s Cheesecake at the Marine Air Terminal from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., EST.

“As Delta continues to make the travel experience more convenient for our customers with this expanded service between two top business markets, we
thought we’d also make it a bit sweeter,” said Tim Mapes, Delta’s managing director of Marketing. “We know New Yorkers and Chicagoans love their
cheesecake so we decided to give them a taste of two of the best — Junior’s and Eli’s. It’s a fun way to celebrate Delta’s increased frequency in flights, plus the added convenience of the fastest way to travel between Manhattan and downtown Chicago — the Marine Air Terminal at LaGuardia and Chicago’s Midway Airport.”

The new flights between LaGuardia and Midway, which replace current service between LaGuardia and O’Hare, will be operated by Delta Connection carrier
Shuttle America using the 70-seat Embraer 170 with six seats in the First class cabin and 64 seats in Economy. Flights between JFK and O’Hare will be operated by Delta Connection carrier Comair using 50- and 70-seat Bombardier regional jets.

Delta’s new nonstop service between New York-LaGuardia and Chicago-Midway, effective Feb. 15, 2007:

On Thursday (February 15), Delta Air Lines will double the number of flights it operates between New York City and Chicago, upping its daily flight frequency to 12.

To mark the occasion, the carrier will hand out free luxurious Junior’s Cheesecake from the Big Apple to Chicagoans, and offer New Yorkers a distinguished taste of the Windy City with slices of Eli’s Cheesecake.
