Eli’s Welcomes Social Media and Cheesecake Tweet-Up on July 23rd

Join Eli’s Cheesecake, Barbara Maldano and a great group of local internet professional for the Social Media and Cheesecake Tweet-up (free) next Thursday, the 23rd of July at the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmers Market.

This is family day at the Farmers Market and we have activities all morning long highlighted by a performance by the Red Moon Theatre.

Life has certainly changed for Barbara Maldonado in the last year. Finding herself in transition after nine plus years on the account services side working on client projects for Philip Morris, McDonald’s, Miller Brewing Company and several others, she dove into social media as a way to differentiate herself from other job seekers and to help land a job in a very competitive and frustrating market.

Barbara began maximizing her contacts and networking via LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Her hard work and hours activating her network and a “pay it forward” mantra paid off with interviews with NBC 5 Chicago, Chicago Magazine, Time Out Chicago and talking about utilizing social media when in transition and building your personal brand. And, most importantly, it was the participation in a LinkedIn group that landed her current position at Marketing Resources, Inc. in Elmhurst, IL where she serves as a Business Development Manager and is helping to implement the social media strategy for the agency.

Now that she has landed at her full-time job, Barbara continues to hone her social media skills and outreach as a way to build her network, prospect clients and help others create their social media brand. Currently, Barbara keeps busy with her role at Marketing Resources, Inc. as well as providing social media strategy and implementation for several clients independently. She also hosts “Twitter Class” for friends and colleagues who are interested in Twitter, but are nervous about jumping in. Thus far, she has hosted two Tweet-Ups in Chicago, one in Milwaukee and is excited about her upcoming Tweet-Up co-hosted with Eli’s Cheesecake Company on July 23rd.

When not online Barbara can be found attending class for her Masters in Non-Profit Management at Spertus College or the many volunteer projects she lends her time to…but more than likely she is Tweeting and updating her Facebook from there too.

Eli’s Cheesecake Cafe Happy to Hose Sima Dahl for Her Speech About Social Media

On Saturday, June 20th, Eli’s hosted a meeting regarding the importance of social networking in the business world. Guests learned how social networking sites can be used to promote business – it is such an important factor of business now that these sites have gotten popular. Sima Dahl discussed her theories of the “sway factor” and the “holy triumvirate” of networking sites: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter—wise words from a networking ninja! The event had a great turnout.
