Opening Day of the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmer’s Market

Thursday’s are very special at Eli’s during the summer. For the 8th year, we are hosting the Eli’s Cheesecake/Wright College Farmer’s Market in our parking lot. This is the first year that our business park has been named the Wright Campus Business Park so the Market is really on the Wright Campus.

We have great vendors at our Thursday Farmer’s Market. Nichols Farms has been the anchor of the Market and we are fortunate to have Seedling which is expanding to key markets in the midwest including the Zingerman’s
Farmer’s Market in Ann Arbor.

Eli’s Master Gardner and Market Manager Kathy Kirby invites customers to shop the Eli’s Garage Sale. Also we were delighted to welcome fresh flower arrangements from UrbanMeadows, a program of Thresholds.

Enjoying a summer opening day at the Market are Eli’s Lucy Frimml and Helen Sullivan. Eli’s Mary Gale welcomes Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director George Borovik to the Market. It is an annual tradition of the PPCC to have its June meeting at Eli’s on the opening day of the Market.

We are fortunate to have the summer long presence of the University of Illinois Extension and its Master Gardner Program. The programs of the Extension are beneficial to the very young as well the old.

The Farmer’s Market at Eli’s means lunch on the grill. We invite you to join us for breakfast (which is free if you send $10 at the Market) or lunch on the grill. Also visit the Wright College tent to learn about new classes and opportunities for Wright.

Eli’s is very grateful for the support of the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce. On the left, Rudy of Rudy’s Bike Shop, and a sponsor of the Father’s Day Bike Ride reports to the members. On the right, Elana Schulman of the Happiness Club tells Ted Szabo and the other PPCC members about the group and its mission.

The Happiness Club is a group of kids from all over the Chicago area who write most of their own materials and who encourage their peers to do the right thing using the power of music. Housed at Wright College, the Happiness Club wowed the audience.

Members of the Happiness Club pose with Portage Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, George Borovik, President Ted Szabo, Wright College President Charles Guenerich and Eli’s Marc Schulman.

Eli’s Cheesecake Festival Main Stage Rocks on Saturday with the Happiness Club, Radio Disney, Raposo and Ashley Garland

As the Eli’s Cheesecake Festival has grown, our partnership with Radio Disney has allowed us to bring very exciting talent to the Festival. Radio Disney Day this year was Saturday, September 16th and our US Cellular Main Stage was packed with fans of some of the best young talent in the entertainment industry.

This year’s Eli’s Cheesecake Festival marked Greg Raposo’s third visit to Eli’s Cheesecake World. He visited first as part of the Radio Disney Jingle Jam Tour when Eli’s hosted the Ultimate Meet & Greet with Greg, Jesse McCartney and Stevie Brock. Then Greg returned as a solo performer for the 2004 Eli’s Cheesecake Festival. This year Greg came with his band “Raposo”.

Eli’s Cheesecake was a supporter of Radio Disney from its first day on the air in Chicago. We appreciate the support support of now Regional Manager, Karyn Esken, newly appointed Station Manager, Dave Pawelek, and our

Happiness Club Peforms at Navy Pier–at Eli’s Cheesecake World this Thursday for the Opening of the Eli’s/Wright Farmer’s Market

One of the groups that Eli’s has been very supportive of is the Happiness
Club. This is a group of 60 kids from all over the Chicago area who write most
of their own material and encourage their peers to stay in school, not to do
drugs and to demonstrate high moral character. The group calls Wright College,
our campus and educational partner home, and even hosts a summer theatre camp
during the summer. On Sunday, the Happiness Club made its summer debut at Navy
Pier with four free shows at the Family Stage.

This Thursday, the Happiness Club will be performing a special noon show in
connection with the opening of the Eli’s/Wright College Farmer’s Market that we
sponsor in connection with the City of Chicago. Held in our parking lot on
Thursdays from 7 to 1pm, there are a number of fresh produce vendors as well as
Eli’s Cheesecake and other specialty baked goods,a series of weekly special
events and our weekly outdoor grilled lunch served from 11 to 1pm.

We also offer a complimentary Continental Breakfast to shoppers
who spend over $5 at the market every Thursday from 7 to 8am. This first Market
will kickoff with a meeting of the Portage Park Chamber of Commerce, our
neighborhood business group.

If you are in town this Thursday come by, or plan a trip for any Thursday
until October
