Eli’s Cheesecake Proud to be part of History: Mayor Daley’s Wager with the Mayor White of Houston over the White Sox and Astros in the World Series
Mayor Richard M. Daley has a been lifelong Chicago White Sox fan growing up just blocks from the old Comiskey Park and the new U.S. Cellular Field. Today at a morning press conference outside the Field, he recounted his memories of attending the World Series in 1959 and his great joy with the American League Champion Chicago White Sox.
In honor of this great occasion in Chicago, Mayor Daley invited a distinguished list of Chicago food companies, restaurants and institutions to join him for a very special wager with Mayor Bill White of Houston. Eli’s was delighted to be a part of this wager, but knowing that our White Sox will win the World Series, we started today baking our Giant Eli’s Cheesecake for the Victory Celebration.
Eli’s Big Slice was proud to be featured with great Chicago brands including Vienna Beef, Stewart’s Coffee, Tootsie Roll, Connie’s Pizza and Original Rainbow Cone.

Just two weeks after one million people celebrated the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon, Bobbins was celebrating the Sox American League Championship and the strong corporate support that LaSalle provides the Sox and all of Chicago.

Mayor Bill White of Houston has urged his residents to discard their socks for a “No Socks Weekend.” Mayor Daley, being concerned that the people of Houston could get cold, particularly if they are attending the games in Chicago this weekend, brought white socks as a gift for the people of Houston.
